Please be patient, awards, and merits, may take a while to be credited, even days.

For some of the new honors, you need to click the related link for them to be awarded.
Click the link to your bachelor for education honors.
Click the link to your property/staff section to get property honors (and hire/fire someone).
And do crimes/ attack etc to be awarded other honors.

There are two types of awards, honors, and medals:
Honors
Once you've unlocked an honor you can display it behind your user name, as a background.
Honors are unlocked by meeting certain requirements. You gain one merit for every honor you receive.
Tip: If you have not received an award but think you have one for one of the areas below, you might need to click onto a certain page to receive the Honor. For example: For Education, You need to click on the course where you have completed the Batchelor, and then click on the final course name. For 'Luxury Real Estate' you need to click on your Island and then 'Upgrades'.

 

Defaults
'Defaults' consists of over 100 'Flag' Honors, and two 'Standard Bars', which gives you a blank background. These are unlocked by default.

1 The Gone in 45 Seconds and the Gone in 30 Seconds award used to be switched around. This was fixed mid '08.
2 Used to be called the 'Fraud' awards.
3 To see what weapons fit into the different attack 'types', please see Merits > Weapon Upgrades, Here.
4 You just have to put the stocks for sale, they don't have to sell. You can remove the stocks right after adding them. Putting the exact amount of 100 mil may not work, if so, try putting in a little more. It's only worked for some eople after they put in > 200mil, so we're not sure what's going on exactly.
5 You will have to spend points to increase the amount you can borrow form the Loan Shark in the City, in the Point Building (Cost: 400 points).

Spending a hard earned merit on stats would be the most retarded thing anyone could do in TC... you can gain that same amount in a few hours up to 1 day... HP is another thing though.

But, the same thing goes IF you have a job in the Torn City hospital. You can increase your health by the same amount over a couple days. It may be faster than merits even.(I would think so.)

what kind of crimes are Fraud crimes? i mean for example picket pocketing n larceny r theft crimes n assassination is a murder crime.

Instead of just getting the threshold number of stats, like 1000 thefts for the sneak thief award, try to do crimes to exceed the 1000 thefts, like doing 1100 thefts or so. This would confirm your passing the milestone, help you pass your time, gain more experience and earn you more cash all at the same time.

Reading all of the comments.. I think that you admins should just delete anyone that says "Oh, I didn't get my blankety blank". There is already a system for reporting problems, and it's via TC, not TCBasic. You guys have MUCH more patience that I would.

It seems the competant award was given around the time i got 5000 crimes. I received the award this morning, and my crime count was 5006. maybe some more research is needed, and confirmation from other users.

best use of merit for me is the bank interest, you didn't know how much cash you'd gain if you completed the bank interest upgrade :) too bad i just figured it out after spending 30 merits on stats, damn waste...
