At some point, after an update, there was a glitch in TC that resulted in every user gaining the Beginner Award twice.
This was fixed/ removed at around the end of 2007/ start of 2008

Does this mean that everyone that had the extra point was removed, and/or that future players just won't get it?

I assume future players won't get it but you won't have a merit removed, at least I haven't had a merit removed yet.

Well they couldnt really remove the merits that the users had got because some people will have spent the merits so they couldnt really retrieve them
