Should I be training Defense?

Often people ask the question "Why should I train defence?"

Since defence is harder to train ( See training/stat guide for the exact training multipliers), and armour has such a low multiplier, in contrast to weapons (See Weapon Multipliers for the exact numbers) a lot of people wonder if it's worth training at all.

General consensus among higher level players now however, is that defence may be one of the best stats to train.

While it is unkown why defence is actually better than it seems at face value, this post hints at something behind the scenes:

What extra 'part' it plays, is not known to us...

And a lot of people are still skeptical of defense's value, so it's up to the individual wether or not to train it.

That post says nothing about any extra part in the game, wtf are you talking about?

Listen, if you have tons of def and an armor with a high enough modifier you can completely block out all damage done by another player.

if you train defence to 10 billion, you could have gotten strength to a zillion (made it up, but the point gets across), PLUS a higher multiplier...
So I figured that 'something it does' wasn't talking about just taking off some damage, and that it does something else as well. Could be wrong

well if ur defense is as high as ur hp thats good. but the thing is that to get an armor that would actually put ur defense to good use would have u springing out 15mil. and all the while u are training def, those who can beat are still beating u and those who u can beat are catching up . if u manage to get ur def to 15000 and can afford flexible body armor, that would take off 14800 damage when u get atked.but when u carry ur def to 15k the ppl that will be atking u will have 50000 strength and 150000 speed. u will still die.

Defense is worthwhile if only because of how fast you can change it.

If I've got 10k strength and 1k defense, it's going to take longer to "double" strength than defense.

Also, using army points or merits only on defense takes away the slower-training bias.

I know that you can't get networth for selling ammunition, but do you get Networth, for selling weapons? Not in item market, just by clicking "sell"?

Yes. If you just click ''sell'' it will count upwards your Networth.

Dam i barly have time to come here anymore... anyways...

Def is definatly without a doubt in my mind, the BEST stat to train. Lets look at Speed and Dexterity. No matter how much dexterity you get, you will always have a chance of getting hit by a critical. No matter How much speed you have, you always have the chance of hitting someone. Lets look at strength. No matter how much strength you have, you always have a chance to miss.

Defence? Thats infallible. If you have enough defence, You can take 0 damage from every attack. Even criticals. What good is dodging when they still have a chance to hit you. Defence is the most important stat for those who rather than winning in 1 hit, would rather drag the battle on tell you get a good hit of your own.

My personal opinion.

My stat percentile

Str (10%)
Spd (20%)
Def (50%)
Dex (20%)

If you have enormous value of str, raising it anymore is useless, since you'll anyway kill from one hit. Same applies to speed - you'll still hit every time. But if you have enormous amount of defense, you'll be immortal, since you absorb an enormous amount of damage. And I think that you can be hit at any amount of dexterity.

Why wont you just train your Dexterity when its better to dodge an opponent instead of taking the risk of getting hit.
