Training / Stat Guide

Working Statistics:
Working stats only apply to what jobs/job ranks you can gain.

Manual Labour:

Intelligence: Intelligence also helps crimes. Not tested.

Endurance: Once rumored to increase stat gains in the gym.  Testing does not confirm this however.

---

Raising your Working Stats:
There is only two ways to raise your working statistics. The first is having a job, There are many different types of jobs, all giving their own unique bonus' which help out greatly no matter what level you are or how experienced you are. IF you are just starting out, and are looking to get your working stats up as fast as possible, then please visit our New Player Guide, this will tell you when to start which career, to benefit you the most.

The second way of gaining working stats is to start what educations. These cost a lot and take a long time to finish, but sometimes it's well worth it. Do the educations courses strategically, find out which job/job rank you want to get to and take the courses according to that.

---

Battle Statistics:
Remember, battlestats increase exponentially. This means that the more of one stat that you have, the faster it increases when you train. Keep this in mind when deciding what stat combination you want to train. Often it means that concentrating on few stats is more effective.
Here is the formula for battle stat gains;

For Strength, Dexterity and Speed.= (0.0002*STATS)+(0.00212*HAPPY+(0.55))

Stat Gain Defence = (0.0002*STATS)+(0.00212*HAPPY+(0.25))

Loosely translated this means that the more stats you have, the more you gain. And the more you gain, the faster you gain more...
Also defence is the hardest stat to train by far, although training defence in jail gives you a bigger boost than the other stats

Battle stats only affect how well you do in battle. Remember, for every attribute there is a counter-attribute, e.g. you may have an incredibly high amount of speed and can usually defeat/hit everyone thanks to that, but then someone might have higher dexterity, so you would be less likely to hit them. (and same with strength:defence)

Speed:
Speed affects how often you hit your opponent, gives you a better chance of running away from your opponent, and lessens your chances of going to jail.

Strength:
Strength affects how much damage you hit your opponent for.

Defence:
Defence affects how much damage you absorb from your opponents attacks, slightly decreases your hospital times.

Dexterity:
Dexterity affects how well you dodge your opponents attacks. It also helps your stealth, if they see you attack them, or if you see them attack you.

---

Raising your Battle Stats:
The main way to boost your battle stats is to train at the gym. There is currently only 2 gyms in TC:
Woody's Work Out Club
This gym is for levels 1-9 and costs $100 for a pass. but you don't need to buy this, because you automatically have a pass to this gym when you first start playing (you can only buy it so you can switch between the two gyms when you are level 10 or over)
Average Joe's
This gym is for levels 10 and over, it costs $25,000 to get a pass. It is very worthwhile going to this gym. Instead of costing 5 energy to train, it will cost 10, but it costs half the amount of happy and you get more of a boost for each unit you train.

Training 1 per time and waiting for your happy to refill will result in better stat gains if you have the time to do it (see training formulas above), as opposed to using all of your energy at once.

Drugs can help raise your stats much faster.

If you are level 10 or over and still haven't changed to Average Joe's Gym, then do it now by going: Newspaper>Local Gyms and select "check it out", but don't go back to Woody's Workout Club, it is a waste of money and time.

Another way to boost your battle stats is by using your merits. Under the non-incremental upgrades, there is an option to buy an upgrade of (10*level) of any stat you select. (so if you're level 5 and want to buy the one that boosts your defence, it'd be 10*5, so that would be a boost of 50 defence). But this isn't really worth it unless you are a really high level (20+ minimum).

The Army job allows you to exchange job points for (any) Battle Stats.*
The Grocery job allows you to exchange job points for Speed.
*Once you've reached the required rank(s).

what would you suggest average battle stats for a level ten are.

Im level 10 and still cant beat i.d 100 on the mission.

Aerozol: under information, go to the PC's page, which tells you the stats of all of the mission NPC's. More speed than their dex should work fine...

Errm in working stats it says that endurance increases your stat gains, but this is not shown in the equation "(0.0002*STATS) (0.00212*HAPPY (0.55))" nothing there about endurance. How does endurance affect your stat gains?

Aerozol: the part about endurance increasing your stat gains is taken from the Torn City help page, which we assume to be correct. Tests have shown the increase in gains to be almost non-existent however... not worth noting in the formula

u guys got it wrong speed determins your ability to dodge and dexterity determins how often u hit

Aerozol: I guess the TC help tutorial got it wrong as well then.

How could endurance increases stat gains in the gym?

TCB: It's what it says in the help tutorial, but it only helps a extremely TINY amount (judging by tests people have done and released in the forums). It's possible that it doesn't in fact help, but we've gone by the official TC help tutorial in this case

i think that speed it the only thing that determines whether of not u and ur opponent hit of miss. i know ppl with 20k speed and only 5k dex that hit far more often than the get hit and the fight ppl with 12k speed so they should get hit everyturn but they dont. so i saw screw speed
tyranatar , April 23, 2007

i no people with like 10k speed and 4k dex. they it often but they always get hit back and sum1 told me when u attack speed is the thing that u get for hitting and ur opponent missing. then they said dex only is wen ur sum1 else attacks u. so im really confused about which stats do wat

I've done tests with friends about endurance stuff, 2 of them started at same time and choose different job carreers One choosen army and other one Grocer, then they started to train Dex and more dex. Then one day i said to them to train the other stats, one of them had 500 endurance and the other 121... Result: You have gained 13.9155 more speed by doing 20 set(s) of running. (500 endurance 200 happy) You have gained 11.1486 more speed by doing 20 set(s) of running.(121 Endurance 200 happy). So i belive it does make something thats noticeble.

@ L Knight =>
Yeah but your test doesnt show anything, in one example this could simply be accounted for with the random part which is in every train. If you did more tests and the one with increased endurance consistently scored higher then maybe. Also what Speed did they start at etc?

You should also add this line to "Raising Your Battle Stats":

The Grocery job allows you to exchange job points for Speed.

TCB: Thanks!

I can firmly confirm that at least for now endurance has nothing to do with battle stat gains at all. My endurance more than doubled after I finished a course and then in my job I gained more endurance stats and testing after a week, i can be sure that endurance didn't have any visible difference in the amount i gain!! I started with strength and dexterity at the same level and then trained strength before the course ends then trained dexterity to compare.

I heard a rumor that endurance gives a 40k(endurance): 1stat gain bonus, which would make it 1/80 as effective as happiness. Any thoughts?

endurance gives almost nothing .....

Maybe the percentage of your indurance matters therefor players with massive stats else where will not notice it as even a lot of stats gained in indurance will not be that much percentaage wise.

i would personally suggest training all stats reletavely evenly. although it takes more time, you cant really go wrong with even stats.
Any other opinions?
Andy123 , July 06, 2007

pr3mium
yes, even stats can go wrong completey. if you even stats out, and someone trains in strength and dexterty and you attack them, you're screwed. if they train in speed and dexterty and they attack you, you're screwed

if i follow the battle stat ratio, what is the range of level above me that i can win?

let say my level is currently level 6, with suggested ratio, can i win level 10? what is the maximum level above me that i can still have a chance to win?

aqie , September 03, 2007

hey ppl jus sayoin the stat gains ye but it also depends on your wepon i mean if sum1 had 500 on every stat more than sum1 hu had a yaksukini sword as a wep and the other guy had a rugger the yaksukini guy wuld win eventually

hi, can i noe wats the meaning of ''stat cap''? y there are 2000, 10000, or 12000?

TCB: To see a description of how stat caps work, see the Companies Tutorial, under tutorials in the menu.

yea i dont go with that ratio guide..... i say screw defence....i go 40% in speed and dex and 20% on strength

Hardrada
I was testing whether endurance made a difference,
and I found this:

Raising my dex from 5000 to 6000 and with an end
under 5000, I averaged 2.76 for each set.

Later, after becoming a lawyer and increasing my
end to over 10,000, I raised my str from 5000 to
6000 with an average of 2.74 for each set.

Both were in the same house, no mods available
at the time.

Actually I found the stat gain calculator is off by 50% on the actual stat gains.

it is true that edurance helps stat gain as you uasually gain a small 7 point something i sold my house and because i had 5000 edurance i was training 10 - 11 so it does asist your trains but not by far

hi all.
i just noticed something, which i think is pretty weird. I've read these forums and oppinions and i still have some doubts. Lets take for example the "train with max happy once, and you will gain more stats in comparison as to triaining all energy at once".

Lets take a simple example with random numbers now.
i trained with 1000 happy once the str and received 3.2 points. After that, training again with less than 1000 happy ( lets say it was 998) i gained 3.5 points. This happens in all trainings, regardless of nature ( if str, dex of speed - with same amounts). I've noticed it helps more to train when the happy is right under max value. Does anyone share the same oppionion?

Thanks

hi

in torn city is it really true that if u train on gym while ur happy is less than the maximum u get more stats? like eg. (900/1000)? or is it better if u train 1000/1000 ? which is better??

TCB: Read the tutorial.

the formula for strengh speed n dex only tells u the average stats that u gain per train because I hav 500 happiness n 1,072.5100 speed n normaly gain 1.824502 but sometimes i gain 2.014190.....

i am having a problem that when i use 10 energy at the gym i get less than 1 speed and before i used to get like 5 do any of u guys know why this is happeneing to my account?

TCB: Read this page. Either you are training a lower stat, or you have less happy.
