A few pointers for playing Blackjack on Torncity.
You can play Blackjack once you are level 4.
When to hit
You don't always hit on 12s-15s. If you are holding one of those hands at the start and the dealer is showing a 3,4,5, or 6 - many times it is best to NOT HIT. You are banking that the dealer has a ten hidden and he will bust. Many hands are won for players this way. The dealer has to hit on 16 or lower - rules of blackjack. Sometimes you hold low to let him bust. This puts the odds in your favor.
Splitting
You don't always split. The biggest mistake people make is splitting 10s. DON'T DO THAT. 20 is a solid hand. Splitting tens is a horrible move and will get your ass kicked if you are sitting at a table full of people that know how to play- trying to get the dealer to bust.
If you are dealt two aces: Split them. When you've split keep track of what cards get dealt on the first set because the exact same cards will be played in the second set. So, if the dealer busts on the first set, don't even bother hitting in the second set because the dealer will bust again.
Doubling down
Doubling down is a privilege, not a right. Use it sparingly. Doubling down needs to be done with two things in mind: According to your hand and the dealer's hand.
Example: You have 11. The dealer has a 6. This is the perfect time to "double down". You will get one and only one card - hoping that it is a ten. But if it is not a ten, have no fear. Say you get a 2 - thus making your hand 13 now. The dealer has a 6. You hope he has a ten hidden - giving him 16. He must, by rule, hit 16. Your 13 hand could win when/if he busts.
Now say he has a ten or an ace showing. You have 11. Some would say double down - personally I would not. That is preference. Bit more chance that he won't have 20 or blackjack and take twice your money. In that case, I prefer to go with a standard hit.
Never, ever, ever double down with a 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 showing to the dealer's 10 or ace. That is bad odds.
In general, if you are new, don't even think of doubling down unless you have 11.
Always double down when you have 11, unless the dealer is showing an ace!
Note: The dealer, by rule, must always hit on a hand of 16 or less. When he shows a 5 or 6, you are hoping he has a ten hidden. In this case you are hoping the dealer will "bust". When the dealer shows a 5 or a 6, it may be best to not hit your 12-16 hand. Just hope he busts.
Splits
If you have ace, ace, -2,2 -3,3 - 7,7 - 8,8 - Then split them. You can hope for a ten on the latter or try to build on low hands like aces -3s.
How much to wager
Be smart on your wager. First say "Hey there Billy... how much can you AFFORD to lose today?" Set a number and divide that by 75 (or 90 if you voted). Only wager that each time.
Don't be greedy and bet more than you can afford.
Soft and Hard Hands
There are "soft" and "hard" hands.
Ace, 5 is called a "soft" 16. Ace, 4 "soft" 15 etc. Soft because you have the option to hit again because an ace is either 1 or 11. You can safely hit on a "soft" hand b/c it is not necessarily locked in.
A "hard" 16 is anything that make up 16 that doesn't have an ace.
Difference between hard and soft is the ace adding ability to play with the hand a bit more.
If you had a "soft" 16 (ace, 5) you would be more inclined to hit hoping for another ace (1), a two, 3, 4 or 5. But even a ten would give you 16 - leaving you no worse off than you started.
Soft hands can add a bit more "luck" to your side.
Play them accordingly.
Insurance
If the dealer gets a natural hand of 21 (made up of an ace + 10, King etc), you win double your bet.
Charlie Rule
If either you or the dealer get 5 cards at or under 21, then you automatically win.

Martingale Betting System
The Martingale system is when you double your bet each time you lose. This system does not put the odds in your favour. For more information on why this system doesn't work, visit this page:

Best thing to do is to just quit while you've got a profit, and if you bet 10,000 and lose, don't try to be 20,000 to try to win back your money plus the previous hand, and then 40,000 and so on, quick way to get poor.

I have not found this information anywhere on the site.

if i have over 1 mil i play about 30k and if i loose i play 60k and if i loose that 120k. chances are you will not loose 4 times in a row.. so you will win the cash you bet (30k) and win all the amount you lost.

Thats the only correct comment. You have the same odds of winning at all times during the day, no matter what you bet. The losses hurt more when they are big, but they don't happen any more or less becuase of your wager.
For any new players out there. Do not listen to the bs about never losing 4 in a row, it WILL happen. It's only a matter of WHEN. I've personally lost 10 in a row. It happens, thats why you don't double your bet every time.
btw my only observation and this will only help experienced bj players is that it seems to me that tc bj uses one deck, shuffled every 2-3 hands or so.

- From what I can tell, unlike the other games in the casino, blackjack in tc has not been modified from the casino version to give the player an advantage.
- Blackjack is only a good use of tickets if what you are expecting is a reasonable assumption of short term variance, using martingale or some other variant, to increase your bankroll a small percentage. For example: you have 1.8 million and you want to buy a penthouse. if you use martingale to get the extra 200k, there is an approx. 12% chance you will lose your shirt with martingale, and a 88% chance you will get your 200k.
Therefore if the small risk is acceptable to you on a case by case basis to enhance your bankroll (say for example if there is a great sale in the property listings that you want to get before someone else does), then go for it, but keep in mind eventually that small percntage point (and 12% isn't that small, and it takes a HUGE bankroll going for a relatively small amount of money to shrink it further, trust me, do the math) will burn you. I know from experience, and when it does burn you it will hurt, so don't go crying to anyone because you have been warned.

That's not truth, I already lost money doing like this because the dealer can show 16 or more even if I try with 12-15.
