Chaining

Big thanks to THUGLIFE [11526] for this great tutorial!

If you're looking for the mIRC Chain Bot, It's on this page!

How to chain:
Firstly it is best to run chains using some type of messenger service. IRC chat is the best in my opinion. Some people also use scripted chain bots that help monitor your chains by keeping a counter of how many hits have been done and alerting you if an attack is getting close to 5 minutes apart from the last.

Now lets use an example on how to chain correctly. Let's say your faction has 5 members:

Player 1 is - a
Player 2 is - b
Player 3 is - c
Player 4 is - d
Player 5 is - e

The way to gain the best respect in a chain is to rotate your attacks while chaining like this:

Player a attacks and then Player b attacks and then Player c attacks and so on until you get back to Player a and he starts the circle again.

When you start your chain and IF there is no lag then it is a good idea to try to space your chains out a bit, with each attack about 2 to 3 minutes apart. Also it is very smart to monitor the attack news on your faction page and make sure that each attack is within under 5 minutes of the last. Any attack made more than 5 minutes after the last attack will break the chain. Try to have a member ready with energy to attack if you see that the chain is close to breaking, for instance if the person who was supposed to attack slows down or loses his fight.

The same person can attack one after another and the chain wont break, however your respect gains are extremely low when you chain like that. Using the rotation method described above is the most efficient way to chain by far.

What levels to attack:
Also, i was told a few months back by a staff member that the levels of who you attack in a chain dont make a difference in the respect gained. I tested this out and I found out the staff was wrong. Therefore I also suggest trying to only hit players that are around level 15 and up when you chain. If you do this you will notice a lot more respect gained. Attack higher levels later in the chain.

Mugging in chains: (You can no longer mug while chaining in the current attack system)
Mugging chains are fun because each player can get some money while they chain but you wont gain as much respect as you do with hosp chains, so I dont recommend mug chains very often. However, sometimes running mug chains may get your members excited and more into wanting to chain so maybe planning one mug chain a week will make your turnouts better.

Remember, during mugging chains your enemies get out of hospital faster, which can be a good thing if you aren't warring many factions.
Your members will also gain a bit of exp during mugging chains.
The respect gain from a mugging about 75% less than hospitalization.

Leaving in chains:
Gives virtually no respect, but doesn't break the chain (Based on current info).

Respect gained during a chain:
The first 3 attacks in your chain do not gain any respect. You will not start gaining respect until the 4th hit in your chain is made. So it isnt a bug if you notice that you gain no respect for the first 3 hits.
When a chain first starts out, say for the first 20 attacks. you tend to get 2 to 3 respect per hosp. Once you hit about 50 to 100+ in your chain ,again, depending on the level of the opponents hosped, the respect gained can be 4 to 6 respect per hit.

Tip: You can attack people, then leave the screen asking you if you want to Leave, Mug or Hosp them for as long as you want, in order to increase the length of the chain to as long as possible. Don't open any new TC windows while doing it though!

So can you chain one faction and then chain another as part of one chain? Or does the movement to another faction break the chain?

TCB: You can attack people from any faction you want and not break the chain :)

so... how do factions get like 800 chains when they only have like 30 memb3ers?

TCB: 150 energy each, on vicodin = 6 attacks, one point refill every day is another 6 attacks, so 12 attacks x 30 = 360 attacks. And if they leave four minutes between their attacks they can attack constantly for 1440 minutes, exactly 24 hours, and considering it only takes 5 hours for energy to refill, you can keep going indefinately, not counting 'guest chainers' (people who join the faction just to do some attacks, then leave again). :)

I've gained respect for just attacking twice on my own when everyone else was offline... So not sure how accurate that whole "must be after 2,3rd attack is..."

Can i chain for days on end if i leave one person to attack someone and they leave the screen which gives options of what to do with the person, but all i have to do is change the person who is chaining, so then i would get respect from that anyway?

If this is not clear please forgive me and make a new comment

TCB: You have to click 'Hospitalize' or 'mug' etc, for it to count as an attack in the chain. If none of your faction members have done this in 5 minutes, the chain will break. Hope that answered your question

Ok so if two people attack one person then that will only count as one attack (depending on who actually gets the last hit)?
Say if a smaller faction goes after another with higher lvl members and small players A and B attack, that only counts as one?

TCB: Yes, it will only count as one attack.

what if, player "a" attacks a player at 23:58pm and player "b" ( of the chain) make an attacks at 00:02 (which is within 5 minutes), will the chain break..??..because, the chaining was going through a day change. hope you've understood what i'm trying to ask...

i cant chain because i need to wait about 4 hours between each attack so no chaining going on what happens if u keep attacking him ever 4 hours or so do i still gain respect and does his faction`s respect still decresase eventually leading to its finishing please can someone help me with this

TCB: You will gain respect, but not very much.

we have done 8 attacks on him now and gained nothing why is this

then this other faction started a war with is and have been gaining a little bit of respect since there 2nd attack

TCB: Doing single attacks on a level 1, is literally the absolute lowest amount of respect gain you could possibly, possibly get. Please read the tutorial, even though it's out of date, and use it to find better targets.

suppose I am in war with 10 factions. do i have to attack a single faction to gain respect. the tutorial says we gain more after 50 attacks. 4-6 per attacks. wht if i attack another faction i am warring with after 40-50 attacks. does it make any difference in respect gain? or is it the same.

TCB: It is part of the same chain, you still gain the respect.

There is one thing i m not totally cleared.

I am warring with the couples of factions and the respect i gained was varied.

My faction Name
[ 2,245 respect ]
[ 38 attacks made ]
[ 1 respect gained ]

Above that, we have made 38 attack made, but only 1 respect gained. Why is that?

TCB: Because you (probably):
Didn't chain
Attacked low levels
Attacked lower rank factions

Is it a must to hospitalize or mug a person to chain or can you just leave them?

TCB: Leaving them doesn't work for chaining/ gaining respect.

What is a Retaliation Bonus?? and how much of a bonus does it give??....my faction was chaining and when the other faction retaliated one of them got a Retaliation Bonus...saw this in the Attack Logs..thanks

TCB: It gives a large increase in respect gained. Very large in fact, they make up a large part of the current strategy involving warring/ slutting factions.
