How to write a tutorial
Last Updated on Sunday, 22 February 2009 20:10
We are in constant need of good tutorials; Written by anyone, about anything (to do with Torn City). If you want to write a tutorial on a subject that we've already covered, or if you think you can do better then go for it! If it's good enough, we guarantee we'll either replace the original or put it up alongside the that. Oh and, as long as the material is not plagiarised we will accept it.
Writing a Tutorial
Here's some main pointers on how to write a good tutorial:
Topic
First of all, you need a topic, preferably one that many people might not know much about, but even if they do, pointing out some things that aren't obvious, or even useful tips makes a tutorial worth while. Like it says above, we don't care if you rewrite one of ours, make up your own on something we've already covered or if you just want to add a peice of information; We want to cover all aspects of Torn City. So please help us out.
Spelling/Grammar
This isn't so important, for if you submit something that doesn't have very good spelling/grammar we will fix it up before we post it publicly.
Visual Guides
We've found that images and screenshots make tutorials a whole lot easier to understand, follow and makes them more popular. So where possible, add relevant screenshots.
Facts
Simple, hard and fast facts are the key.
You want to cover everything.
Bulletpoints are prefered, rather than paragraphs (but paragraphs are fine where necessary).
Readable
You want it be read easily. Having a flow of information is good, not jumping about changing the subject all the time. things shoudl be consistent and linear.
Help
If ever you need help with any information or getting started with one, you can ask us using the contact us page, ask on the TC forums, or ask on our affiliated forums! Many people are willing to help those who want to help others.
And remember, we will give you all the credit for anything you submit. Your current TC name and ID will go on at the top of the tut, so it's the first thing people read.

Aerozol: You can mail any of the staff through TCB, or maybe just post it on the TCB forums. You can also contact us through TC, or send things to torncitybasic@gmail.com. Good luck!
TCB: Try reporting it to TCB staff, and perhaps posting in a different TCB section/ the forum for more replies. If all else fails you can always use paypals 'chargeback' option, but TC may take legal steps if you are abusing the feature.
