Hunting

Thanks to society[512975] for this great tutorial! Feel free to mail society if you need more help.

Requirements: Level 15+ Hunting gives you the opportunity to sacrifice statistics and crime experience in exchange for monetary gain and hunting skill. If you’re new to Torncity you may be asking yourself why you have to be a higher level to participate in hunting: the answer is that traveling has level restrictions. Upon reaching level 15 you may travel to South Africa, whereby you may now hunt by scrolling to the bottom of the page and clicking “Hunting”. The highest achievable hunting skill is 99.0011/100 (currently not 100 due to mathematical exponential gain) which takes months and thousands of energy to reach. To hunt in South Africa you must have $500 to start (and 10 energy), but for people who are hunting for the first time (those who have a skill level of 0-10) it is recommended that you save up some money before going to South Africa because early stages realize little to no monetary gain often putting you into debt, forcing you to travel back to TC. Recommended purses for newer hunters should be around $25,000 along with an additional $40,000 for the ticket price to travel to South Africa.

Hunting: Hunting with a guide uses 10 energy and costs $500. You have $x and x energy. Your hunting skill is 00.00 / 100 > Beginners hunting session > Standard hunting session > Advanced hunting session You have 3 options for hunting, Beginners hunting session, Standard hunting session, and finally, Advanced hunting session. These three levels relate to the hunting skill you acquire while hunting. As you hunt your hunting skill gain will gradually decrease exponentially- it’s not as bad as it sounds. For instance: With hunting skill 14 we gained 0.066 per hunt, this decreased to to 0.065 per hunt in 4 hunts. Later on, at 18 hunting skill we gained 0.053 per hunt, which decreased to 0.052 in 7 hunts. All hunters should start out with the beginners hunting session. Recommendations: Donator status, long periods spent in South Africa, and employment in a rank 3/5 (or higher) farm or zoo. These are recommended because it affords certain opportunities such as tripling your income, speeding up the skill-building process, and also spending more of your career as a rich player (that is the point of hunting, is it not?).
What hunting level should I move up to and at what skill? This is not necessarily correct, or the same for everyone, but there is a general range that everyone can agree upon. These are as follows:
 Beginner hunt 0 – 25/33   Standard 25/33 – 85/90   Advanced 85 – 90+

The bracketed numbers (ie. 25/33) suggest the hunting skill you should have while attempting that level. Summary – Expenses: $40,000 for travel, $500 and 10 Energy per Hunt – Recommended hunting difficulty ranges are Beginner hunt 0 – 25/33, Standard 25/33 – 85/90 and Advanced 85 – 90+. – Hunting does in fact gain you a little leveling experience. – Try and join a rank 3+ farm or zoo – Hunt with a donator status – The higher the skill, the higher the monetary gain.

Note: Hunting gains were greatly decreased in a March 07 update. Before this update hunting skill was maxed at 89.01. This is what Soccer13[56869] got before the update: Times Hunted: 30, Energy used: 300 Money gained (-$500 per hunt): $1,576,000

For those of you wondering which type of hunting to do. Of course begin with the beginners session. When you get to about 20-25 hunting skill or you’re getting 7-10k per hunt, move up to standard session. When you get to about 55-60 hunting skill or you’re getting 15-20k per hunt, move up to advanced session. Don’t be concerned if your not killing all the animals in the session you’re doing before moving on, you should be able to get others from a higher session. Spadge

Disregard the above information, it no longer applies because of the update.

Do you have to be back in torn city for your energy to regen, or does it regen as normal while in africa?
written by stiener, March 16, 2007
Well it seems that the nerfed hunting. Now when a lower level player wants to gain some decent money and sacrifice their stats they can’t. Just another way Ched and the admins have decided to keep the balence of power in the hands of the uber high lvls. Thanks Admins!!!

I’m at 79.0167/100 and make about $900,000 a day. I tried Advance for one day and made $728,000. If anyone knows at what point one should move on to advance,I’d appreciate the information. Does anyone know if one uses drugs before hunting will it affect how much you earn?

I’m currently having: Your hunting skill is 63.2924 / 100 My best prey was cheetah and i had never killed a hippo to any higher before. So what i want to ask is does Battle stats have influence over hunting results???

If anyone reading this is doing hunting, could they please post their current hunting level and gains in this topic https://tcbasic.com/forums/view-3295.html that way we can get an idea as to how profitable hunting really is.

South Africa Hunting with a guide uses 10 energy and costs $500. You have $1,969,290 and 0 energy. Your hunting skill is 80.3246 / 100

I have 79.69 hunting skill, my average hunt is $10,000 per hunt or $150,000 per 150 energy you do need a donater pack to gain faster stats and more money per hunt. a total of 45 hunts per day is getting me $450,000 per day, all of this is on standard hunting
written by BlueKnight, June 23, 2007
I’m hunting and on an average I’m getting about $12,000 per hunt doing a standard hunt. I’m still averaging less hunting in advance. It’s a little frustrating. Can anyone tell me if your regular battle stats have anything to do with how your hunting stats improve. $2,106,199 and 5 energy. Your hunting skill is 84.2438 / 100

this is at 89.3403 skill some hunts are 19 k and some are 10k this is the average hunt .Some times I go back to Standard and the money seems the same I am hoping that once I reach 90 hunting skill the money will go up . You set off with your guide on the advanced hunting session to hunt yourself some wildlife! Buffalo killed: 45 Zebra killed: 32 Baboon killed: 39 Warthog killed: 44 Giraffe killed: 42 Cheetah killed: 17 Hippo killed: 3 Leopard killed: 2 Lion killed: 0 Rhino killed: 0 Elephant killed: 4 Hyena killed: 17 Gorilla killed: 0 You sell the carcases to the guide for $15,965! You also gain 0.0028 hunting skill.
written by JunkYardDog, July 23, 2007
In Reply to the above you will reach 50 if you hunt three times a day and have a donater pack after 60 days of hunting three full energy a day.you will start making enough money to buy a dp and some spare cash ,if you look at my post earlier you will start making nice money at about 60 skill.
written by hmmms, August 16, 2007
actually… the update DID affect hunting exp gain…. before the update… when it was stuck at 89.1 hunting skill, it gave 0.0056 exp per hunt… after the update, any rise after 89.1 gave 0.0028 and so on.. there was a sudden drop in exp rate gained ONLY after the skills reaches 89.1
written by JunkYardDog, August 23, 2007
This is where I am at as far as hunting skill. Your hunting skill is 92.4171 / 100 Really seeing no differance in what lvl you hunt Standard orAdvanced,I can get between $9000. to $28000. Per hunt whether it is in the Standard or Avanced hunting it seems the amounts very all over but it is the Total of a 150 E hunt. They both seem to hit an average after 150 E of $250,000. So can’t realy say it’s really worth all the time it takes to get here but I am so far in that I am gonna try to go to 100 exp hunting and I will keep updating my post for anyone interested. Also my gain for hunting is at 0.0027 exp per hunt so it will take a lot longer to get to 100 Hunting exp.

hi justin14, if ur hunting skill is 99/100 u will get max $38000-$30000 per hunt & min $11000..its doesn’t effect ur battle stats, but the problem is u can’t train ur battle stats but if u doing hunt, u will hv to scarifice ur battle stats..the only thing u get is money & hunting skills… Note: must have (99/100 hunting skills)…u will get more than $1 – 1.5 mil or $2 mil per day..u hv to play every 5 hrs..then u will reach this amount..
written by unkn0wn, October 16, 2007
I get more than 700k per day with 30 5 nerve doing arson government building all time, maybe it is more valuable than hunting coz I’m also get the battle stat.

So, bottom line here, is going to South Africa when you reach level 15 and just hunting for a while a good idea or not, overall? You still accumulate all your cash and specials from your job, whatever that is (so massive INT gain from education, or massive buildup of medical points, etc. when you get back) and you gain a lot of money not to mention a permanent source of income when you need it (in the form of high hunting skill). You lose: The ability to further improve your battle stats and crime XP. So, experienced players, would you reccommend it or not, overall?
written by BackFromTheDead, November 19, 2007
When we don’t hunt, does our hunting skill decrease? TCB: No.
written by Society, November 20, 2007
How much money do you earn when you first start out? (Daily)
written by Society, November 22, 2007
edit: You make roughly 250-500 (750-1000 before you pay the hunting guide) cash on day 3 (per one hunt), seems worth it as you move up quite quickly and if you need money. You earn your job money daily which gets added onto the total money you have while in Africa.
written by Rugburn, November 26, 2007
I just spent a few days in SA working on getting some hunting skills. I reached about 22 in skill and was getting around $400-1500 per hunt. The skill gain was about 0.0045 when I left. Hunting three times a day I made roughly $30k – not great but covered my housing upgrade expenses (barely) but also, that amount IS going up. Mostly I just wanted to add that hunting has another use – its a good place to ‘hide’ to avoid your faction loosing respect. this is especially useful during those times when you cant be online much for a given period. You can just sit in SA and hunt whenever you do get a chance to login and as pointed out previously, rack up job points while there. Lastly, I dont if this is just a coincidence as I’ve every stayed in SA for more than 24hours this last trip (was there for 5 days). The cost of Xanax kept dropping. I wasn’t paying close attention to when the price was dropping but it made at least 3 distinct drops Since last Wed until this morning (Monday). When I first got there it was selling at ~$624k. When I left this morning it was down to ~$582k.
written by Society, November 27, 2007
Okay, roughly a week into hunting with a current skill of 27. I can manage to do standard hunting sessions but if you’re losing money while doing this I recommend until waiting to come around to 30-33 skill (as I predict it will allow you to start killing standard animals)- problem is I got to giddy and anxious and now I just don’t care about my session given that I’m still making money. -> Beginner Hunt @ 27 skill = $1500 hunt/average.
written by Society, December 07, 2007
Update: 39 Skill, Standard Hunt $1500-2500 per session/10 energy, the averages move slowly around here but I do make 50k a day, growing by the day (by 5-10k). Hopefully now people can make a more informed decision based on my progress. Only bad thing about hunting (quite bad) is I lose 5k per month in battle stats for hunting.

written by heggland0, January 24, 2008
When your hunting level reaches 99.0011 (it gets stuck there and nobody knows why), you will be making about $48.000 on average pr hunting session. Which is 2-3 million dollars a day, depending on how active you are. This is with the hunting skill bonus that comes with the job if you’re in a rated 3 farm or zoo. Without the farm/zoo worker’s bonus, you can expect only about 20.000 per session, so don’t even think about going full time hunting without that bonus.. A 15% gain in hunting skill might not sound much, but it really is a 150% gain on your hunting income.
written by Society, January 29, 2008
Yeah, I still don’t mind the income when I need some extra money quickly, my crime XP sucks so when I need some cash I jet down to SA for 2 weeks. Still isn’t worth what it should be but since I still need better weapons and drug money I go. I have about 72 hunting skill now and make 7-9k on average. I’ve hit as high as $11, 700 for hunts as well and as low as 3k.

buzzar123; I am a donator and my job title is farmer. I average now about 2,000,000 a day. I have tried working in a zoo. But i can tell you it’s been a big difference in what money I make since I started working on the farm. to get the bonus the farm should have a 3/5 rating. I don’t know if it’s the same working in a zoo. You set off with your guide on the advanced hunting session to hunt yourself some wildlife! Buffalo killed: 104 Zebra killed: 97 Baboon killed: 1 Warthog killed: 66 Giraffe killed: 61 Cheetah killed: 42 Hippo killed: 2 Leopard killed: 22 Lion killed: 4 Rhino killed: 2 Elephant killed: 32 Hyena killed: 32 Gorilla killed: 21 You sell the carcases to the guide for $71,835! I keep track of all my travel durations and time of regen lost during those. It’s a little hard to get there, and takes a lot of patience. Since the start, I’ve been on SA for around 850 hours, and only lost the chance to hunt with the energy gathered during 14 hours due to a trip I took. Right now, after spending this much time, I’ve got to 69.2055 skill, and I am making 800k a day or so. Comparing to what I could get before hunting, it’s big money. lol Keep in mind that all of this period, I’ve been hunting with a donator pack AND the special bonus from a farm. Guess you would make minus than without those.

I meant, if you go on a single trip to SA, you will need 5 weeks or so on the same conditions to get to 70%.

5 weeks? My friend, without a hunting bonus (which is what most people start out with) it takes you ab
